A Blended-Learning Concept for Teaching Languages for Specific Purposes at University Level

This publication is under revision

Recent studies suggest that blended learning methodology in foreign language teaching is more effective than pure e-learning or pure face-to-face classes (ZHAO, 2003, GOLONKA et al., 2014). On this basis, this study focuses on recent constructivist blended-learning approaches for foreign language teaching and learning and provides a blended-learning model for Business Spanish at university level. The contents of the virtual modules and the face-to-face classes aim to achieve an optimal input-output combination in which receptive and productive language skills are homogenously developed. Since oral competence is one of the most relevant skills for students’ future careers, this study focuses on improving oral language competence through cooperative learning activities and weekly voice recordings.
